Hey guys, Happy Monday! I am so elated to kick off this week debuting my recently lightened hair color with John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ Subtle Lightening Shampoo and Visibly Brighter™ Subtle Lightening Conditioner. You can read the before post here, detailing how thrilled I was to try a more affordable summer hair highlight. You can pick up the Visibly Brighter™ Shampoo and Visibly Brighter™ Conditioner at your local Walmart in the haircare aisle. If you cannot locate these in store, you can purchase at Walmart online here. I love how highlights can add such depth and boost to the look of everyday curls. Today I am going to show you how I style my hair with voluminous curls.

Start your hairstyle by blowdrying the hair using a large round brush at the hair root. Pull upward. This gives your hair lift. Work around your crown and finish blowdrying towards your ends. Dry hair completely.

After you blow-dry, brush through all your hair to remove any tangles. You do not want to mess with tangles as you are trying to curl your hair.

Next, section off the bottom third of your hair and secure top hair in an elastic. I like to use the non-imprinting, stretchy hair ties so you don't get any kinks. (I should probably pick out some professional hair clamps!)

Using 1" thick sections of hair, curl your hair away from your face. I usually set my curling iron to 350 degrees. I like to start towards the middle of the strands and twirl the curling iron to the ends. This minimizes the amount of heat on your hair ends, which seems to get heat damaged the easiest.

After you finish curling the bottom third section, break the hair in the elastic into 2 sections. Tie off the top most section and secure with the same elastic. Continue wrapping 1" sections of hair away from your face and starting the wrap at the middle of the strand.

After you finish the top section of hair shake out your curls. You do not want to look like Shirly Temple girlfriend! Don't be afraid to run your fingers through the strands in fear of messing up the curls! You can always re-wrap them on the curling iron.

And if you do not like too much volume on top you can be done!

But I am in Texas, and us southern girls love volume! You can pretty much use any fine tooth comb. Since I part my hair on the far right side, I choose to work around the part. I lift a good top layer of hair and back comb vertically on the hair.

Next, do the other side. Brush out any lumps on the top.

Finally, set your curls on top where you back combed. You look gorgeous! I am so pleased with my new subtle highlights that I received from the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ system. The color shown below is after 2 washes, and to be honest I will probably use it 2 more times. I used the Visibly Brighter™ Subtle Lightening Shampoo and Subtle Lightening Visibly Brighter™ Conditioner in conjunction with John Frieda Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Brighter™ In-Shower Treatment. Read about these products in my first post hereThat is the truly great thing about the Visibly Brighter™ Shampoo and Visibly Brighter™ Conditioner, you control how much or how little you want to highlight you hair. 1. I need to do better at taming my curls. They exist, but they're not as pretty as what you've created. I love the highlights you ended up with - so pretty! #client
